What do the huts weigh?
Depending on size, huts weigh from 800kg up to 1800kg.
Are they waterproof?
When installed correctly, our huts are completely
waterproof.
How will it weather?
Our huts are premium quality – you should expect 25 plus
years of low maintenance enjoyment.
What quality is the hut?
Again, we only supply premium quality Balinese Huts. The
poles are all 100% old coconut and are all fine sanded. All
of the carving is completed by traditional Balinese carvers.
What sizes can you supply?
Our huts are available in square and rectangle shapes.
Sizes are 3x3, 3x4, 3x5, 3.5x3.5, 3.5x4, 3.5x5, 4x4, 4x5, 4x6,
5x5, 5x6, 5x7, 6x6, 6x7 and 7 x 7. All sizes indicate roof area.
Can I get one with no deck?
Absolutely. We sell many huts with no deck, rails or steps.
Can I get one with no rails?
Yes, we can supply your hut with deck and no rails.
How sturdy is it?
Our huts are designed to last and are very heavy and
durable.
Do prices include installation?
No. Installation is extra.
How easy are they to install?
If you have handyman experience, you and a friend (or 2)
can install a standard hut over a weekend.
Does it come with instructions?
Yes, our huts come with instructions.
How long does it take to assemble?
If you are fairly handy, then a weekend should be enough
to fully install a standard hut.
Do you have people to recommend to do the install?
Yes, we have qualified carpenters who are highly
experienced installing our huts and can often complete an
entire hut in one day. Huts cost from $950 for installation
depending on your variables.
What is your delivery time?
We sometimes have huts available for immediate delivery.
If not, it will be 4-16 weeks.
Do I need to concrete the poles into the ground?
Due to the weight of the hut, you do not need to concrete
the poles into the ground, however we do recommend you
discuss this with a qualified installer if you are unsure.
What are the poles made from?
The poles are made from 100% old coconut palm wood.
What is the deck, rails and steps made from?
The deck, rails and steps are also made from are made
from 100% old coconut palm wood.
What maintenance will the hut need?
The only real maintenance needed is a quick stain of the
timber (not the roof) every 12 months or so. This will keep
your hut looking in as new condition for many years to
come.
Do I need to do termite treatments?
Both Coconut palm wood and cedar are naturally termite
resistant timbers so your hut is not going to be a tasty
option. If your hut is on grass/dirt, we recommend using
the concrete footers that are supplied free with your hut
so you can easily monitor termite activity through visual
termite mud tubes that will appear up the concrete footer if
termites appear.
Do you supply grass thatched huts?
We only supply timber shingle huts. They are maintenance
free, durable and long lasting. Grass needs continual
maintenance, deteriorates and can look messy very quickly,
and generally needs replacing every 7 years.
What is the roof made from?
The roof has 4 layers. From the inside out there is bamboo
matting, timber ply, aluminium insulation and then
premium grade Western Cedar shingles.
What is Western Cedar?
Western Cedar is an incredibly durable timber with
amazing thermal properties. All of our Western Cedar
shingles are sourced from Sustainable Managed
Resources. It is naturally termite resistant and has a life of
20-60 years, depending on variables.
Will the colour of the roof change?
Yes. Over 6-12 months, the Cedar shingles will grey off to
the more authentic weathered look.
Do I need to oil the shingles?
This is up to you but not necessary. They are designed to
last a lifetime with no oiling ever!!
Do I get spare shingles?
You will have shingles left over from your install.
Do I get a warranty?
Our experience has shown that any faults with the huts
are immediate and are evident during install. We will fix/
replace any frame pieces that are defective within 12
months of purchase of your hut.
Are the roof nails galvanized or stainless steel?
We only use stainless steel nails to install the shingles to
allow for a lifetime of enjoyment.
Can I get a traditional terracotta crown for the roof?
Yes, we can supply crowns for square huts – they are
$200 each.
